Guyana: Harmanpreet Kaur has become the first Indian woman to hit a century in the T20 format. Her hitting was hard to believe and the sixes incredibly monstrous. Due to this ton her team to register a 34-run wins over New Zealand in the World T20 opener Friday. The 29-year-old scored 103 off 51 balls and her killing ton included eight sixes and seven boundaries.

India opted to bat after won the toss at the Providence Stadium. From Indian side Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues (59 off 45 balls) added 134 runs for the fourth wicket to guide their side to set the target of 194 for five in the fixed 20 overs.

 India stopped New Zealand at 160.

However, From Kivis side Bates, who became the highest run-getter in T20 Internationals, could not find help at the other end as New Zealand were reduced to 93 for four in the 13th over. Indian Bowlers got the big wicket of Bates when she played Arundhati Reddy's low full-toss to the backward point fielder. Bates hit eight boundaries during her innings in the middle.

Hemalatha and Poonam Yadav grabbed three wickets apiece for India while there were two for Radha Yadav.
