PROVIDENCE (Guyana): Veteran Player Mithali Raj hit an aggressive half-century to guide India to an easy 7-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Women's World T20 on Sunday.

Mithali fastened the Indian run chase with a 47-ball 56. She hit seven fours in the Group B match which was flawed by first-time docking of 10 penalty runs on Pakistan.

India chased down the target of 134 with six balls to spare. Indian batsman scored 137 for 3 in 19 overs. Earlier game centurion and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy remained unbeaten on 14 and 8 respectively.

With this huge win on Sunday, India having  four points made a big step towards making it to the semifinals from the five-team Group B. Two teams each from the two groups qualify for the semifinals.

India also take revenge for their narrow 2-run defeat under D/L method against Pakistan in New Delhi in the preceding edition of the prestigious tournament in 2016.

India eves made a strong begin with openers Mithali and Smriti Mandhana (26) finding the boundaries at regular intervals in their 73-run partnership from 9.3 overs.

Earlier, Indian bowlers stacked Pakistan down for most part of their innings ahead of allowing them to make 133 for 7.

India won the toss and opted to field. India made a great start with the ball, restricting Pakistan to 30 for 3 in the seventh over.
