New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued some guidelines for testing in view of the increasing cases of corona. According to it, people who are unable to smell fever, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath, bad pain, fatigue and taste will now be treated as suspected corona patients and will be examined. However, to reduce the burden on testing labs, the ICMR has also directed not to conduct RT-PCR tests in some cases.

According to ICMR, if a person has been found positive in rapid antigen test, his RT-PCR will not be required. On the other hand, those who are infected in RT-PCR will also not be tested again. At the same time, people living in home isolation for 10 days will not need to undergo tests who have not had fever for three consecutive days. Those discharged from the hospital will also not need to undergo tests.

The recommendation of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) says that the need for RT-PCR tests for healthy people travelling from one state to another can be completely curbed as such tests are adding to the burden on laboratories.
