Washington: If Russian military forces cross the Ukrainian border, the US and its allies would respond with a "swift, stern, and united reaction," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Wednesday.

"President Biden has been explicit with Russian President Vladimir Putin: If any Russian military forces march across the Ukrainian border, that is a renewed invasion, and it will be faced with a prompt, stern, and united response from the United States and our Allies," Psaki said in a statement.  "President Biden also knows from personal experience that the Russians have a wide range of non-military offensive options, including cyber-attacks and paramilitary methods. He also stated today that any actions of Russian aggression will be confronted with a unified, decisive, and reciprocal response.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken went to Kyiv to ease tensions between the US and Russia over the Ukraine crisis. He reportedly spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and warned that Russian soldiers may attack at "very little notice."  Approximately 100,000 Russian soldiers have gathered along the border. Their leaders, however, have stated that they have no plans to invade.

According to reports, the Biden administration has approved an additional USD200 million in defensive military aid for Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasised the necessity of assistance and underlined his country's desire to join NATO.
