New Delhi: The battle of Shiv Sena's name and election symbol has now reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has agreed for an immediate hearing on this issue. The top court will hear Uddhav Thackeray's plea against the Election Commission's order in this matter tomorrow at 3.30 pm. During the hearing, senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi cross-examined the Uddhav group. He said that the office of the Uddhav group has already been captured. If it is not heard, then their bank accounts will also be taken away. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that the order of the Election Commission is based only on 33 members of the Legislative Assembly.

Election Commission had decided to give the name of the Shiv Sena and the election symbol 'Arrow-Bow' of the party to the Shinde faction, after which the Uddhav faction had moved to the Supreme Court. They wanted an immediate hearing on this matter before the constitution bench on Monday (February 20). However, the court did not hold the hearing on Monday saying that there is a procedure to be followed for urgent hearings.

On the other hand, enthused by getting the name and symbol of Shiv Sena, the Shinde faction had filed a caveat in the apex court demanding that no unilateral order should be passed without hearing their side. The statement of Uddhav faction leader and Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi had already started speculating that the Uddhav faction might go to the Supreme Court. Raising questions on the decision of the Election Commission, it was said that now only the top court will have to protect democracy.
