There was a revolutionary of India who fought with the British and together with Bhagat Singh, there was a revolt against the British. Bhagat Singh was hanged but the revolutionary which we are talking about was not. He was alive till after independence. There was an incident in the freedom struggle which has written a new chapter of valour in Indian history. This incident was when Bhagat Singh threw a bomb in the National Assembly of Delhi. While throwing the bomb, Bhagat Singh had said, 'If the deaf wants to be heard then the voice has to be loud'. There was another revolutionary in this incident, who was arrested along with Bhagat Singh.
That revolutionary was Batukeshwar Dutt. There were many cases against Bhagat Singh. He had already been sentenced to death, but Batukeshwar was not so lucky that he was yet to face many problems. The English government sentenced him to life imprisonment and sent him to the Andaman-Nicobar prison, where he was sentenced to Kalapani. He died of TB during Kalapani's sentence. When he came to know in jail that Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru had been sentenced to death, he was very sad. His disappointment was not about his three companions counting their last breaths. He was sad that only why he was not being hanged.
After the country became independent, Batukeshwar Dutt was also released but India has forgotten him. This fact has been revealed in the book "Batukeshwar Dutt, Bhagat Singh's associate" published by National Book Trust. Even after leaving jail, he faced many problems, not only that he had cancer after some time, he was admitted to the hospital to get treatment, where on the night of 20 July 1965, this great son of India said goodbye to the world. His last rites were performed according to his wish, near the tomb of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussainiwala near the Indo-Pak border.
