If you are planning a road trip to a hill station near you, then be aware that driving has some important rules that can come in handy for you. The fun of traveling in the mountains is different, but in some cases, traveling to hill stations can also bring sorrow for a lifetime.

Mountain travel can be exciting and dangerous, especially if you're taking a road trip. While visiting hill stations, you might have to deal with issues like rocky roads, blind corners, and land slides. Accidents are more likely now that the monsoon season has begun, but most residents of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh take weekend trips to Uttarakhand and Himachal because these other regions are less dangerous. There are many different things to do here, and it is closer than other places. It is crucial to understand some rules that will keep you safe if you are also planning a road trip here.

Don't drive too fast

No matter how experienced you are behind the wheel, never speed to get somewhere quickly. Because the roads in hilly areas are narrow, if your balance falters while you're driving quickly, you could be involved in a serious accident.

Take care of your gear

On hills, always use the second or third gear. Of course, getting there will take some time, but at least you'll be secure.

Drive on the low beam

Driving on the mountains should always be attempted with low beam, as it provides you with a clear view of the vehicle coming from the front.

Horn rule

Additionally, there are some guidelines for using the car horn in the mountains. Always honk when turning, as even a small error could put you in danger.

When to brake

The mountain has risky turns, so drive slowly and avoid using the brakes. When ascending or descending a slope, you should never brake heavily. You will avoid accidents by doing this.

Be careful while overtaking

You will arrive at your destination later and have less time for enjoyment, but at least you will be secure. If you can't see the road in front of you while driving on a mountain, don't try to overtake. Drive only in your lane.
