New Delhi: Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi spoke at the prize distribution ceremony of the competitions organized during the Hindi fortnight recently. During this, he said, "There are estimated to be about 6000 languages all over the world. Linguists predict that by the end of the 21st century, only 200 of these languages will survive, and India will have hundreds of languages."

During this program, Additional Director General of the institute Mr. Satish Namboodiripad, Professor Anand Pradhan, and Course Director of Indian Information Service Mrs. Navneet Kaur were also present. Covid-19 is going on at this time. Following the guidelines issued by the government regarding this epidemic, only awardees were invited to this program. During this Prof. Dwivedi said that 'If you look from the perspective of linguistics, Hindi is a complete language. The Devanagari script of Hindi is completely scientific. What is spoken in the Hindi language is written, due to which the errors in dialogue and its writing are negligible."

He further said, "Language is the best asset of a man. All human civilizations have developed through language. By 2040, India would have become a major economic superpower in the world. Think, in which language would most of the citizens of India be doing all the major work of their lives? Presently, as the trend of English is increasing rapidly, will Hindi or other Indian languages get a place among them?"
