New Delhi: Pakistan has appointed former batsman Ijaz Ahmed as the head coach of the Under 19 team. Ijaz has also been a strong fielder. The PCB appointed Ijaz Ahmed as the coach of the Under 19 team for three years. Ijaz Ahmed has been coaching since 2009 and has been the coach of the Under 19 team before Pakistan A. In 2010, he was also the coach of Pakistan's senior team for some time. Ijaz Ahmed has also coached Pakistan's Under 16 team.

Ijaz Ahmed will take over the coaching of the Under 19 team from the Under 19 Asia Cup, which will begin on September 5 in Colombo. After becoming the coach of Pakistan's Under 19 team, Ijaz Ahmed said, "I am very grateful to the PCB for trusting me, I have been given the important responsibility of preparing young players. Junior cricket is the lifeline of any country.

I am ready for this responsibility. Ijaz was arrested in 2009 on charges of forgery of bank cheques. He was also the coach of Pakistan's Under 19 team when Ijaz Ahmed was arrested. There was a complaint against Ijaz in Lahore and he was fined Rs 10.5 lakh. He was charged with forgery with two cheques. Ijaz scored 3315 runs in 60 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 12 centuries. Ijaz Ahmed also played 250 ODIs and scored 6564 with 10 centuries. Ijaz caught 90 catches in ODIs and 45 catches in tests.
