Lucknow: Police has arrested Imam Ali Ahmed of Badi Atala Masjid in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The imam is accused of inciting the mob to violence after Friday prayers on June 10, 2022. According to the report, Imam had instigated the policemen to attack them by calling them infidels. Imam was named in the FIR lodged regarding the violence and arson that followed. He has been arrested on 12 June 2022 (Sunday).

According to media reports, after instigating Imam Ali Ahmed, the mob started pelting stones on the police. After this violence started, in which many officers and policemen were injured. Apart from Imam Ali Ahmed and Javed Pump, who were arrested in Prayagraj violence, Zeeshan Rehmani, Sara Ahmed, Councilor Moinuddin and Ashish Mittal of leftist ideology are included as the main accused. Police is searching for the rest of the accused.

According to the report, Ali Ahmed used the loudspeaker of the mosque to instigate the crowd. It is alleged that while pointing to the policemen, he said that they are infidels, do not leave them. Police interrogation of Ali Ahmed is on. There are 80 named accused in this case. There are also 5 thousand unknown accused. After Javed Pump, Shah Alam, District President of AIMIM Prayagraj is also on the target of the police.
