Ahmedabad: Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad, Shabir Ahmed Siddiqui, has objected to Muslim women getting election tickets, saying that if it was justified for Muslim women to come in front of everyone, they would not have been stopped from coming to the mosque. Now opposing this statement of Shahi Imam, Maulana Rao Musharraf of Deoband has explained in detail why women do not go to mosques. Maulana Musharraf is the district convenor of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch.

Maulana Rao Musharraf said that Muslim women can go to the mosque. He cited the reasons why Muslim women did not go to mosques, molestation by Imams, and attempts to rape them by their disciples. At the same time, another Ulema of Deoband, Qari Ishaq, has also called the Imam's statement of Jama Masjid an election statement. Let us tell you that in the past, Shahi Imam Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui had called the entry of women into the mosque haram. In response, Maulana Rao Musharraf has said that the mosque never banned the entry of Muslim women. According to Musharraf, when women can go on Hajj with men, why can't they go inside the mosque? Condemning Shahi Imam Shabir's statement, Rao Musharraf said that nowhere in the Quran and Hadith have women been prevented from going to mosques. According to the report, Rao Musharraf said that Muslim women stopped going to the mosque because the Imam of the mosque used to molest them and their disciples tried to rape the women. Citing the example of Benazir Bhutto and Sheikh Hasina, he said that if women did not have equal rights in Islam, how could these two women become PM?

Rao Musharraf has termed Imam Shabir's statement as provocative and called it conservative and separatist. He said that the rhetoric of people like Imam Shabbir should be stopped. Musharraf said that India's law also gives equal rights to women. Muslim women have the right to vote and contest elections. At the same time, Deoband's Qari Ishaq Gora has termed the statement of Shahi Imam Shabbir as absurd. He said that it would be better if Imam Shabir gets any Islamic information in writing rather than from anyone's statements. According to Qari Ishaq, such statements of the Imam have raised an unnecessary issue. Ishaq is also the patron of Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen.
