New Delhi: Doctors of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have staged protests across the country today demanding a law by the Central government to deal with violence against doctors. In fact, in solidarity with the IMA 'National Demonstration Day' against the recent attacks on doctors in various states, doctors across the state in Kerala today staged protests and raised slogans of 'Save the Warriors'.
Doctors from government and private sectors staged dharna in front of the secretariat, here at various district headquarters besides state administrative centres and hospitals. Doctors in front of the secretariat also appeared with placards in their hands. IMA State Chief Dr Pt Zakarious, State Secretary Dr P Gopakumar and State President of Kerala Government Medical Officers Dr GS Vijay Krishnan also joined the protest in front of General Hospital here.
Sources said only five people participated in the demonstration at each centre of the state to ensure that the functioning of hospitals was not affected due to protests during the crisis period of corona epidemic. So the demonstration did not affect outpatient (OP) or other services in hospitals. The main demand of doctors is to declare hospitals as 'special protected centres'.
