BHUBANESWAR: The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Odisha during the next 48 hours, the Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the Bhubaneswar Centre of the IMD's Meteorological Department, pre-monsoon rainfall has already begun in Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district and other spots in southern Odisha.
Beginning at 8.30 a.m. on June 15, one or two locations in 16 districts of the coastal state are expected to hit thunderstorms with lightning for 24 hours, the IMD said. "Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two locations over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur," said the IMD's regional centre.
Apart from Gajapati and Ganjam, and a few other places, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are quite likely to occur in several places in interior Odisha, according to the forecast.
