Jaipur: The Met department has issued a yellow alert predicting torrential rains in several districts of Rajasthan on Thursday. The entire state has recorded 10 mm to 50 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. IMD has now issued a yellow alert (watch and stay updated) for Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Bikaner and Hanumangarh.
On Wednesday, Mount Abu tehsil received 150 mm, Pushkar 100 mm, Kota and Dhambola 90 mm, Sarwar and Udaipurvati 80 mm, Railmagara and Khetri 70 mm and Chikli, Mawli, Asind 60 mm. According to the Met department, light to moderate rain was recorded in Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions of the state till 8.30 am on Wednesday. Heavy rains have disrupted normal life in different parts of Gujarat. Thousands of residents from low-lying areas have been evacuated to safer places. A huge quantity of water was released from the Ukai dam on the Tapi river in the Tapi district.
Telangana has also been badly affected by the rains and the subsequent floods. The water level of the Godavari river was rising rapidly and reached the third warning level in Bhadrachalam on Thursday amid continuous heavy rains. The state government has recently sent a report to the Central government regarding the damage caused to the state due to heavy rains and floods and has requested it to provide Rs 1,000 crore as immediate assistance for flood relief.
