Tamil Nadu: India Meteorological Department has issued orange warning for four districts of Tamil Nadu - Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts and yellow warning for Thanjavur, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur. and Chennai District. The orange alert is so that the concerned government departments can prepare themselves to deal with rain-related issues, including the possibility of flooding at various places due to the possibility of heavy rains as well as other natural phenomena involving very heavy rains. .

The IMD has predicted that scattered rain and thundershowers are very likely in some parts of Chennai. “The sky is likely to be generally cloudy. Moderate rain with thundershowers, with a chance of heavy rain in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 31˚C and 25˚C respectively,” the IMD bulletin said. The IMD has said that isolated heavy to very heavy rains are very likely over Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts, and Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Virudhunagar are likely to experience thunderstorms with heavy rain at a few places. , Sivagangai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chennai districts.

The IMD has noted the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal and the weather system is likely to move towards Tamil Nadu coast. This will continue for the next three days resulting in heavy rains on October 29 and October 30. The IMD has also predicted 11.4 cm to 20.4 cm of rain at one or two places in the coastal districts.
