Immersion of POP idols not allowed in Hussain Sagar: Telangana High Court

The Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the state government, police department and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) not to allow the immersion of plaster of Paris (POP) Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar. and asked to follow orders. The High Court is hearing a petition filed by advocate Mamidi Venumadhav to prohibit the immersion of idols of Ganesha and Goddess Durga in Hussain Sagar. After hearing the arguments, the court gave this decision. He further said, "Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris (POP) should be immersed in the ponds."

He said that it is not right to ban festivals of any religion. One should follow the sentiments of the people.
