The Corona epidemic has greatly affected every section of the country, and it has had an impact on Sports as well. Meanwhile, the official of the Ministry of Sports has said that due to Corona, there is a possibility of delay of one or two months in the National Sports Awards program this year, but the final decision will be taken only after getting directions from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The President of India gives the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna, Dronacharya and Dhyanchand awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 29 August every year under the same National Sports Awards. National Sports Awards are given on the occasion of the birthday of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyanchand. But due to the pandemic this year, it might be delayed, but the final decision is awaited.
The Ministry of Sports officer said, "We have not received any instructions from Rashtrapati Bhavan so far. We are waiting for information about sports awards, so this time it is very difficult to say when the awards will be given. Due to Corona, there is a ban on public gathering across the country, so no program is being held in Rashtrapati Bhavan. If the program does not take place on August 29, we can organize it after one or two months. Right now, health and safety should be the priority of all."
