Russian Corona vaccine Sputnik-V imports to begin in India from May

New Delhi: India has also recently given the green signal for emergency use of the third vaccine amid ever increasing cases of corona virus. According to people concerned, the Russian-made corona vaccine Sputnik V is likely to be imported to India from next month. As far as its construction in India is concerned, it may take time till June or July.

Kiril Dmitry, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said the vaccine manufacturing in India could start at the end of June or early July through separate local tie-ups. Dr Reddy's Labs, which has a licence to distribute the vaccine, on Tuesday obtained the approval of India's drugs controller for import of the vaccine under banned use in case of emergency. In addition to partnership with Dr Reddy's Labs, which is conducting sputnik v clinical trials locally and which has the distribution rights of Russian vaccine i.e. RDIF has spoken with five other local companies for production. They are companies: Stelis Biopharma, Gland Pharma, Hetero Biopharma, Panesia Biotech and Vircho Biotech.

India will produce at least 50 million doses of Sputnik V in the next few months. Kiril Dmitry has said, "We are thinking of producing five crore doses of Sputnik V in India this summer or by the end of summer. India has a large production capacity. We have already announced a tie-up with five local companies for large scale production of Sputnik V. We intend to do many more tie-ups that we will announce soon. ''
