'Imran is my elder brother...', BJP asks Rahul Gandhi for clarification on Sidhu's statement

New Delhi:Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has once again come under fire from various political parties, calling Pakistan PM Imran Khan his "elder brother". BJP leader Ram Kadam has written to former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi over Sidhu's statement and demanded that he clarify his stand on the issue.

Ram Kadam wrote in his letter, "Your party leader and Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh  Sidhu had described Pakistan PM and terrorist defender Imran Khan as his elder brother during his visit to Kartarpur Sahib on November 20. Do you support Sidhu's love for Pakistan and PM Imran Khan?'. Ram Kadam further wrote, 'Do you have no control over your own party and party leaders? More than 48 hours have passed since the incident, but you have not responded to it yet.' Kadam questioned Rahul Gandhi saying, 'Do you support his (Sidhu) statement?' He added, 'The country asks you for a clarification on Sidhu's statement. Will you take any action on Sidhu and explain?.'

Apart from the BJP, AAP, Congress MP Manish Tewari has also criticised Sidhu's statement. Tewari tweeted, 'Imran Khan may be someone's brother, but for India he is the vanguard of the ISI-army alliance within the Pakistani machinery that sends drone weapons and drugs to Punjab and sends terrorists every day across the Line of Actual Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir.' Manish Tewari questioned, 'Did we forget the martyrdom of our soldiers of Poonch so quickly?'
