Imran Khan, former Pakistan Prime Minister, has alleged that his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been served food mixed with "toilet cleaner" while in custody at their Bani Gala home, which has been declared a sub-jail. He claims the chemicals in the food caused her daily stomach irritation and deteriorated her health. Khan voiced these concerns during a hearing of the £190 million corruption case in Rawalpindi's Adiala jail.
Khan reported that Shaukat Khanum Hospital's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Asim Yousaf, recommended conducting Bushra Bibi's medical tests at Shifa International Hospital, but the jail administration insisted on performing them at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital. The court later ordered medical examinations of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi by Dr. Yousaf. Bushra Bibi has requested the Islamabad High Court allow her medical check-up at a private hospital of her choice to determine whether she was being poisoned through food provided by jail authorities.
