We have all grown up hearing about the romantic folklore of Laila-Majnu and their union has been used as a paradigm of love even after years of their existence. Another recreated version of the folklore will soon hit the silver screens this May.

Association of Imtiaz Ali with a love story has yielded excellent romantic films until now. His expertise makes the film an awaited release.  

Director Imtiaz Ali and producer Ekta Kapoor have joined hands to create yet another take on the legend of Laila-Majnu. The project is directed by Imtiaz’s younger brother Sajid Ali and is co-written by Imtiaz. It will be his directorial debut. Ekta Kapoor shared the teaser with the caption “It’s here the 1st look Teaser Recreated. Re-imagined. Retold. Proud to collaborate with @imtiazaliofficial to present a classic love story with a contemporary twist. Here’s the teaser poster of #LailaMajnu.”

Sajid Ali opened up about his debut to Indian Express while the film was being written. He also told that Imtiaz first discussed the idea with him long ago and revealed that the film will have Kashmir as the backdrop.

“It’s a classic, intense Laila-Majnu story,” said Sajid Ali describing the film briefly.
