Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh opened his new party's office here on Monday, December 6, reaffirming that his Punjab Lok Congress, along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa's group, will form the state's next administration.

Following his unceremonious retirement as Punjab chief minister in September, the former Punjab chief minister left the Congress and formed the Punjab Lok Congress.

Singh told the reporters after launching his party headquarters that his organization's membership campaign had already begun. "We are quite optimistic that we would win the upcoming elections...by seat swapping with the BJP and Dhindsa sahib, we will form the next government," Singh stated.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and a BJP leader, stated on Saturday that the BJP was in negotiations with Singh and Dhindsa about forming an alliance for the upcoming assembly elections.
