New Delhi: In the Supreme Court, the Central Government has justified its decision to fix the number of women cadets for admission in the National Defense Academy (NDA). ASG Aishwarya Bhati told the top court that a plan has been prepared to admit 19 girl students i.e. cadets in every academic session.

Bhati further told that we had made these plans at the same time, when the matter was fixed for the next hearing on the day of International Women's Day. However, we needed 3 months' time to study more about this and collect the data. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul of the Supreme Court asked ASG Aishwarya Bhati whether this number of 19 will depend on how many areas you will give them admission.

On this, Aishwarya Bhati told the Supreme Court that although we are giving admission to women cadets in all branches and courses, including the war field in the army. But at present, only 12th pass boys are getting admission in the Navy. We are also exploring the possibilities of admitting women in this. Although women are becoming officers after qualifying SSC.
