In order to give priority to Indian companies in government purchases under self-reliant India, the government has amended the purchase rule. Under this, now only those foreign companies will get the opportunity to participate in the government purchase tender, the countries whose government purchases are given the opportunity to supply to Indian companies. Due to this rule, countries like China, which do not allow Indian companies to participate in the purchase of government departments, will not participate in India's government procurement tender.

The rule will be considered applicable to all government departments and ministries. According to complaint released by DPIIT, companies in the country that prevent Indian companies from participating in government procurement will be able to participate in government purchases of only those items whose list the government will publish.

Also, under the new amended rule, the departments and ministries that make purchases of more than 1000 crores annually, will have to release the idea of further five years of purchase on their portal. Under the same new rule, government companies will also have to increase the local supply limit. According to the new rule, if a foreign company wants to participate in government purchases by participating with the Indian company, then the government will issue a notification about it. It is also a major achievement for India.
