The Guwahati Police Force cancelled the licences of 95 people for drunk driving on Sunday night, as the state's campaign on drunk drivers continues.

According to the police, these 95 people were detained at checkpoints all across the city. Their licences were all suspended, and they were each fined Rs 10,000. Guwahati Police have arrested at least 295 people in only a week during their latest anti-drunk driving drive.

It should be mentioned that the traffic police said earlier on Friday that they will be on high alert to track down intoxicated drivers in the city to guarantee that no accidents occur over the New Year. Officials from the traffic police department have stated that they have developed a strategic plan to prevent accidents in the city, especially in the new year.

The police department has been asked by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure that no accidents occur during the New Year celebrations.
