JAIPUR: On Tuesday, twenty-four hours after Rajasthan's schools were allowed to open at full capacity, two students at the Maharaja Sawai Mansingh School in Jaipur were confirmed to be infected with Covid-19, prompting the school's administration to halt offline lessons for the next four days.

According to a Maharaja Sawai Mansingh School Management Committee member, "Covid-19 has infected a brother and sister who are in third and sixth grades, respectively. After the affected children's family told the school management that they had been infected with Covid-19 on Monday evening, the school administration decided to close the school for the next four days as a preventative measure." During this time, he said, online education would continue so that other school children can study at home.

Meanwhile, the Convener of the Rajasthan Parent Ekta Sangh, Manish Vijayvargiya, requested that online education not be banned. The Covid-19 infection is still going on. In such a case, schoolchildren should be forced to study exclusively online until the illness is eradicated on the ground, he said, adding, "The state administration took a rushed decision to open schools with full capacity in order to benefit private schools, which is incorrect. This is fiercely opposed by the Rajasthan Parent Ekta Sangh."
