KIEV, Ukraine – As the war reached its 11th day, Ukrainian officials said Russian soldiers shelled a civilian car in Kiev, killing two people and injuring five others.

The Kiev Regional Prosecutor's Office announced on Facebook that criminal proceedings had been opened in connection with the incident on Friday. Six individuals were travelling in a car from the town of Vorzel in Kiev's Buchansky district, according to preliminary investigation, the Office stated.

They were driving when they came across a column of Russian military equipment bearing the letter "V," which began fire with tank machine guns, according to the Office. "Two people were killed as a result of the shelling: a woman and a 17-year-old girl." "The actions of the military aggressor country are qualified as violations of the laws and traditions of war," the Office continued in the statement, adding that four other persons got shrapnel wounds, one of them was a seven-year-old child.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked the village of Markhalivka, which is located in the Kiev region, killing at least five people, three of them were children.
