It’s in 2005 that Nerariyan CBI, the latest film in the franchise of the CBI investigative thrillers starring Mammootty in the lead was released. After more than 15 years, the makers are set to launch the next film in the series. We hear that the movie’s shoot, if all goes well in the pandemic times, will begin on Chingam first - the start of Malayalam year - which falls on August 17. A source from its production team tells us, “If there are no restrictions limiting us, the shoot will start on this date in Ernakulam. It will be directed by K Madhu and scriptwriter S N Swamy, but the rest of the technicians will only be finalised in a week.”

Alongside the franchise’s regular actors like Mammootty and Mukesh, the movie will also have a new set of actors. “Renji Panicker, Soubin Shahir, Asha Sharath, Sai Kumar and more will also be part of this film,” hints the source, adding, “There will definitely be many interesting new-age elements that the viewers can look forward to. The story will be novel."

What about its lead Sethurama Iyer? “Well, there will be no change when it comes to him. Be it his style, dressing, demeanor or character, he will remain the same. We don’t think people will like any change when it comes to his characterisation.”
