New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi urged party workers to be attentive. He had a word of caution on the “strange behaviour” of polling machines to workers. He took a jibe at the recent controversies regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EMVs) in Madhya Pradesh saying EVs are being taken for ride, quite literally.

“Some stole a school bus and vanished for 2 days. Others slipped away & were found drinking in a hotel. In Modi’s India, the EVMs have mysterious powers,” Gandhi scion wrote on Twitter. “Stay alert,” the Congress president  issued a warning for his party workers in the state.

Worth mention here EVM malfunctioning during voting has been widely reported. There have also been other controversies with respect to EVMs in Chhattisgarh and MP. Earlier, Congress leader Naresh Saraf demanded an SIT investigation into the alleged irregularities in handling of the voting machines and security lapses in strong rooms in some districts.

The petition on the same issue was rejected by MP High Court. Congress leader Vivek Tankha  also complained to the EC that a number of reserve EVMs were brought to Sagar district magistrate’s office in an unharmed bus two days after voting on November 28, in a sign that they could have been tampered.
