In New Year letter, Putin asserts to Trump Moscow is open for talks

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin has  penned down to US President Donald Trump on the occasion of New Year,  asserting him that Moscow was ready for conversations on a "wide-ranging agenda", as Reuters reported citing officials.

The letter of Russian President comes a month after Trump unexpectedly cancelled meeting with former on the sidelines of a G20 summit in Argentina. Pres Trump had then cited tensions about Russian forces opening fire on Ukrainian navy boats and then holding them. An official statement from the Moscow Kremlin stated that Pres Putin has stressesd that US-Russia ties are the most important factor for strategic stability and international security. Putin also confirmed that Russia is open for  talks with the US on the most wide-ranging agenda.

Pres Putin has not only sent New Year greetings to Trump but to other world leaders as well including Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Theresa May of Britain and Shinzo Abe of Japan and Xi Jinping of China.

In other letter to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Putin asked continuation of help to the Syrian government and people in the "fight against terrorism, in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Worth mention here Moscow and London have also agreed to go back some of the staff of their respective embassies after they expelled dozens of diplomats early this year ahead of the alleged chemical attack of former Russian spy, which Moscow starved of  powerfully.
