In October, the seasonally adjusted IHS Markit India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) increased to 55.9 (index reading) from 53.7 in September. The PMI scale runs from 0 to 100, with a number of more than 50 indicating an overall improvement over the previous month. For the fourth month in a row, the seasonally adjusted IHS Markit India Manufacturing PMI was in expansion zone.

Furthermore, the most recent number indicated the most significant improvement in overall operational conditions since February. "In October, India's manufacturing sector accelerated, as companies ramped up production in response to a significant increase in new job applications. While business optimism reached a six-month high, firms increased input purchases as part of stock-building operations and in expectation of future improvements in demand "the PMI survey.

"Panelists reported higher prices for a variety of supplies and transportation, with overall input costs rising at the fastest pace since February 2014. Selling fees were then increased once more." It said.
