In Odisha a doctor thrashes patient, video goes viral

BHUBANESWAR: A doctor allegedly assaulted a young patient at Dharamgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in Odisha's Kalahandi district on Tuesday, police said.This incident was captured on video which went viral on social media.

According to residents, a patient from the Dharamgarh area went to the hospital on Sunday about 10.30 p.m. with a terrible stomach ache. He raised his voice since he couldn't find the doctor there.

Later, in the hospital, an argument erupted between the patient and the doctor, who was identified as Sailesh Kumar Dora. Dora thrashed the patient after that.

"When I arrived at the hospital with terrible stomach discomfort, there was no doctor available to help me. When I inquired about the doctor, the security guard stated that he had gone to the restroom. After a while, a member of the medical staff gave me two injections and placed me on a stretcher. At that point, the doctor appeared out of nowhere and began thrashing me "Mukesh Naik, the victim, claimed this.

On Monday, the patient and locals mounted a road roadblock to demand the doctor's arrest. The doctor and the patient each filed two separate complaints with the local police station.

"On this occasion, we have filed a report and detained the doctor. More research is being carried out "Dhiraj Kumar Chopdar, Dharamgarh's sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), said as much.
