Quetta: According to reports, four people were killed and 14 others were injured in a remote-controlled blast in Pakistan's Quetta city. The explosion happened near the Science College on Jinnah Road on Thursday night, according to the police.

As security personnel and rescue authorities arrived at the blast site, witnesses told police that glass windows of nearby buildings were smashed.

The injured have been taken to the city's Civil Hospital, according to the police, and three persons have been reported to be in critical condition.

According to the report, the Director-General of Police Syed Fida Hussain Shah revealed that 2.5 kg of explosives were installed on a pole near the blast scene after an initial investigation. He claimed that a JUI-organized event was taking place at the time, and that the explosion occurred near the venue's gate as soon as it ended. 

Balochistan's Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, has already criticised the incident and ordered the inspector-general of police to submit a report on the detonation. Simultaneously, the provincial adviser to the chief minister on the interior was ordered to strengthen the city's security situation.

The detonation was caused by a remote-controlled device, according to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Interior Raza Langoo, who added that an investigation was underway.
