On Sunday, a Pakistani pilot refused to bring a plane from the Saudi capital Riyadh to Islamabad. The pilot said his duty time was over so he would not fly the plane. The Pilot of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) refused to fly the plane in the middle of the journey after which the passengers on board the plane got agitated and protested that they would not land by plane.
According to a report received the same, the PIA administration said pk-9754 took off from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, but landed in Dammam due to bad weather. The captain of the plane then refused to take the plane to Islamabad and said his duty time was over.
Angered by the same captain's words, the passengers refused to get off the plane in protest. Airport security had to be called in to control the situation. A PIA spokesperson said that for the safety of the plane, proper rest is necessary for pilots before taking off, so arrangements were made accordingly. He said the passengers will land in Islamabad at 11 pm on Sunday. Earlier, the service of direct flights to Saudi Arabia from PIA was not detailed. In November, PIA announced that it was expanding its flight to Saudi Arabia. According to the spokesperson, PIA flights will depart from all cities in Pakistan including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar.
