Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has taken a big action against the accused of Christian conversion in Saharanpur and Azamgarh districts. Two accused have been arrested in Saharanpur and one in Azamgarh. In both the districts, Hindu organizations have demanded strict action against the accused. Efforts were being made at both the places to convert the innocent villagers in the name of prayer and convert them to Christianity.

According to media reports, the first case was reported from Azamgarh district on Sunday (May 29, 2022). Here in the Kandharapur area, an accused named Moharil used to collect people in the name of curing the demonic spirit. It is being told that Moharil has so far converted about 100 people to Christianity. For this, he used to hold meetings in a house by putting up poster-banners. When Hindu organizations reached the spot on the day of the incident, dozens of people were seen praying with religious books in their hands. On being asked, Moharil termed it as a healing meeting.

When the people of the Hindu organization were arguing with Moharil, in the meantime some girls who came there started quarreling with the people of the Hindu organization itself. Eventually, Moharil was found to be organized without administrative permission. In the midst of the dispute, the police also reached the spot. The police arrested Moharil. According to SP City of Azamgarh, Moharil has been booked under the Anti-Conversion Act.

SSP Saharanpur IPS Akash Tomar told that, 'The names of the people arrested on Sunday (29 May, 2022) are Ajay and Anil. Both have become Christian a few days back. At the same time, they were also inciting other people to become Christians. For this he was giving all kinds of greed. Some people had given a complaint in this regard, which was found correct in the investigation. Now both of them have been arrested in this case. Action will be taken against the accused under the anti-conversion law and other sections.
