In fact, it was said on Wednesday that the election of the mayor and the presidents would be done directly by the public and a proposal in this regard has been sent to the governor. However, Home Minister Narottam Mishra added to the confusion by saying that no proposal related to the urban body elections has been sent by the government to the Raj Bhavan. After that, it was not being decided that what would be the process of election of mayor and presidents. There was no clear information about this.
In fact, regarding the election of mayors and presidents, one faction of the BJP organization was talking about holding elections from the public and the other side to hold elections from councilors. Due to this, the Shivraj government was not able to decide anything on the decision. Now government spokesperson and Home Minister Narottam Mishra has made it clear that the mayor will be elected by the public and the presidents will be elected by the councillors. Its proposal has been sent to Raj Bhavan. The notification will be issued after the approval of the Governor.
