Arunachal Pradesh was earlier known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). The state also has an international border of Bhutan, Tibet, China and Myanmar countries in the west, north and east respectively. Arunachal Pradesh also shares a border with Nagaland and Assam. There are hilly and semi-hilly areas in this state. The slopes of its mountains go towards the plains of the state of Assam. Rivers like 'Kameng', 'Subansiri', 'Siang', 'Lohit' and 'Tirap' etc. also serve to divide them into different valleys.

The history here is not going to be seen anywhere in writing. There is a little bit of literature and historical ruins as a form of the oral tradition that is also being found in this mountainous area. The excavation and analysis of these places reveal that these are from the time ad sun began. Historical evidence shows that it was not only a well-known area but also a close connection with the people who lived here and have a close connection with other parts of the country. The modern history of Arunachal Pradesh dates back to the imposition of British rule in Assam after the 'Yandabu Treaty' was signed on February 24, 1826.

Prior to 1962, the state was also known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). Constitutionally, it was a part of Assam, but due to its strategic importance, till 1965, the administration was being looked after by the Ministry of External Affairs. After 1965, the administration here has come under the Ministry of Home Affairs by the Governor of Assam. In 1972, Arunachal Pradesh was made a Union Territory and renamed as 'Arunachal Pradesh'. After all this, on 20 February 1987, it also proved to be the 24th state of the Indian Union.
