Earlier, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, in reply to a supplementary question by Virendra Prasad Vaishya of the Asom Gana Parishad, said that the government is committed to implementing ingamula in Assam. Roy said that the government's clear intention in implementing the NRC was that it would ensure that no Indian citizen is left out in the Process of NRC and no illegal migrants can find a place in it.

He said the President and the government have received more than 2.5 lakh applications stating that some Indians are not considered citizens of India while migrants in the NRC are also considered Indians. He said, the government has requested the Supreme Court to give some time to the government to consider these applications.
