New Delhi: The Income Tax Department has raided Dainik Bhaskar, a major media group in the country. More than 40 locations in Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Maharashtra of Dainik Bhaskar have been raided by various teams of the income tax department in Delhi and Mumbai at 4.30 am today. The income tax department has taken this action after receiving information about tax evasion from media groups. According to sources, the department has raided not only the commercial locations of Dainik Bhaskar but also the houses and offices of its promoters following reports of major tax evasion by Dainik Bhaskar. Meanwhile, the commission's team seized and examined the tax-related documents.

On the other hand, the entire opposition is engaged in terming it as a "cowardly attack on the freedom of the press." From social media to Parliament, the opposition is trying to corner the government on this issue. At the same time, Dainik Bhaskar has said the same on its news portal. Bhaskar wrote on his portal, 'I am free because I am Bhaskar, Bhaskar will run at the discretion of the readers. Bhaskar has also written on his portal that the government has taken this action out of fear of his true journalism.' In fact, Bhaskar had published several reports ranging from corpses floating in the Ganges during the Corona period to presenting actual figures of corona deaths. This is being linked to anti-government action and Bhaskar says that is why this action has been taken against them.

However, there has been no response from the Central Government. But sources said, the Income Tax Department had received information about large tax evasion by the media group. After which this action has been taken by the Department. Now, only time will tell how much truth is there in the allegations against Dainik Bhaskar, but this action has definitely given another issue to the Opposition to corner the Government.
