New Delhi: The Income Tax Department on Thursday raided offices in several cities of media group Dainik Bhaskar over tax evasion. The department said raids are being carried out in Bhopal, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and some other places in the country. However, there has been no official confirmation from the Department or its policy-making body, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Official sources said the operation also includes promoters of major Hindi media groups, which operate in several regions.

Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijay Singh tweeted that tax officers are present in half a dozen premises of the group including his office at the press complex in the state capital Bhopal. The raid has taken the help of local police. Action is also underway at offices in Jaipur, Ahmedabad including Bhopal. These raids are being operated by teams from Delhi and Mumbai. The digital wing of the newspaper has been asked to work from home after receiving information about the raid. Waiting for more information right now. Sources said raids are also on at the Rajasthan office in connection with the case.
