New Delhi: The Income Tax Department had conducted raids on the locations of media group Dainik Bhaskar in various cities on Thursday (July 22, 2021) on charges of tax evasion. The raids were conducted in Bhopal, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and some other cities. An interview with Daily Bhaskar editor Om Gaur after the raid is going viral on social media in which he says the IT department stopped him from doing his job. Gaur is saying, 'He came and sat down. He asked them to show the news before publishing it. He saw the story, asked for an amendment and was published only after that. '

After the video went viral, the IT department in a series of tweets rejected allegations that their officials had "suggested changes" in the news. However, he did not name any media group in his tweet. In his tweet, he wrote, "There are allegations by some media sections that during searches at the offices of a publication, IT officials asked for changes in the news and started taking decisions related to editorials themselves. These allegations are absolutely baseless and are categorically denied by the IT Department."

The tweet further said, "Keeping in view the protocol of the department, the investigating team has only examined financial documents and transactions." The Income Tax Department also mentioned interviews given by the national editors of the media group to some news channels in a tweet. The department said, "According to an interview to the media, Om Gaur is in Lucknow. The Income Tax Department clarified that lucknow office has not been raided and questions have not been answered from Om Gaur. The allegations that are being made are baseless and seem to be sponsored."
