Rajkot: The West Indies team looks back on back fight in the first match of the ongoing Test series between India and West Indies. Chasing India's target of 649 runs, the Indians' team was stacked on 181 runs on the third day of the match to Indies batsman. Medium-time batsman Roston Chase was top scorer with 53 runs for the West Indies side. Earlier, on the second day of the match, India declared his innings on 649 runs for 9 wickets. Prithvi Shaw (134 runs), Virat Kohli (139 runs) along with unbeaten Ravindra Jadeja scored a century from India. At the same time, wicketkeeper cum batsman Rishab Pant missed his century with just 8 runs, he scored 92 runs in 84 balls, while Cheteshwar Pujara also scored 86 runs. Due to the excellent batting of these batsmen, India reached the score of 649.

After this, India invited the West Indies to bat, but the visitors were not well on the start and in the third over of the innings, Mohammed Shami, one of the best bowlers took the stumps from the opening batsman Brendon Bhambet. After that, the wickets of the WestIndies team kept falling on regular intervals, except for Roston Chase (53) and Chemo Paul (47), none of the West Indian batsmen could stand in front of Indian bowlers. Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets for India, besides Shami 2 and Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket each.
