Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized on Tuesday that Independence Day and Republic Day are of greater significance than all other national festivals. In a bid to foster national pride, he urged citizens to display the Indian flag not just on August 15, but from August 9, and to promote societal awakening.

"Independence Day and Republic Day are more important than any festival in the country. To honor these occasions with dignity, our party has proposed that we not only hoist the flag on August 15 but also start displaying the tricolor at homes from August 9 to inspire the entire society," CM Yadav stated during an address at the party office in Bhopal.

Yadav drew comparisons with neighboring countries, noting their democratic struggles, and praised the Indian government's development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. "When we look at countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, which gained independence around the same time as us, their democratic challenges highlight the importance of nationalist movements. We take pride in the achievements since 2014 under PM Modi’s leadership, which has matched the record of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's government in terms of governance," he said.

He also announced plans to celebrate Independence Day with enhanced pomp, including the reintroduction of police bands at all 55 district headquarters in the state. "Initially, states had their own police bands, but over time, these were phased out. We have decided to reinstate these bands to celebrate our major national occasions with full government dignity," Yadav added.

Additionally, CM Yadav highlighted the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival, scheduled for August 19, and outlined plans to extend the celebrations throughout the state. "On August 10, we will organize programs at 25,000 locations across Madhya Pradesh to mark Raksha Bandhan. As part of this initiative, Rs 1,500 will be sent to each Laldli Behen through a single click," he said.
