India, Iran inked 5 MoUs to curb tax evasion

New Delhi: Ahead of Iran president three-day visit, MoUs exchanged between India & Iran in the presence of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi & President of Iran Hassan Rouhani during the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iran President Hassan Rouhani in New Delhi's Hyderabad House.

India & Iran signed Agreement for Avoidance of Double Taxation & Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to taxes on income. It'll stimulate flow of investment, technology & personnel from India to Iran & vice versa & prevent double taxation, said Central Board of Direct Taxes.

The Agreement will provide for the exchange of information between the 2 Contracting Parties as per latest international standards. It'll improve transparency in tax matters & help curb tax evasion & tax avoidance, Central Board of Direct Taxes added.

EAM spoke person Ravessh Kumar took his official twitor handle and said,” On sidelines of the bilateral meeting between PM @narendramodi and Iranian President Dr. Rouhani, agreements were signed in areas like double taxation avoidance, extradition, agricultural cooperation, port lease, medicine and others. PM Narendra Modi and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also jointly released the postal stamps marking the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
