New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla held Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) with Secretary General of France's Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Francois Delatte on Tuesday, taking stock of the two countries' broad strategic partnership.

Shringla stated in his opening remarks that this FOC comes on the heels of a very fruitful visit by Florence Parly, Minister for Armed Forces of France, on December 17 to hold the third annual Defence Dialogue with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Prior to this, the Foreign Secretary stated, "We held consultations in Paris on October 30, 2020, where we exchanged perspectives on the Covid-19 pandemic and global and regional geopolitical changes." We also went over various aspects of bilateral cooperation, such as space and energy, and reviewed the progress made in other dialogue mechanisms between the two sides."

"We also exchanged notes on our close collaboration in multilateral and plurilateral fora, such as the UN Security Council or trilateral cooperation." This helped us prepare for India's term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, where India and France worked closely together," Shringla added.
