Defending champions India have managed to reach the knockout stage with a one-sided 16-0 win over Indonesia. In this match of Pool A played yesterday i.e. on Thursday, the Indian team has dominated Indonesia from the beginning and has been seen scoring continuous goals. India took a 6-0 lead in the first two quarters and after which in the coming two quarters, they have also scored the remaining 10 goals. From India, Deepson Tirkey scored 5 goals, while Sudev has also scored a hat-trick.  

Earlier, Pakistan had to face a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Japan, after which according to the rules, India had to register a 15-0 win against Indonesia to reach the next round. India has done the same and has scored one goal more and has also won 16-0.  

Under the guidance of Sardar Singh, India has fielded a young team in the tournament in which two stalwarts like Birendra Lakra and SV Sunil have come back to the decision to retire. In both the matches, however, these two players could not do anything special. India has also played out a 1-1 draw with Pakistan by losing the goal in the last minute in the first match. After which Japan defeated India 5-2. Pakistan has also been defeated by Japan 2-3. Both India and Pakistan had four points each, in such a situation, Pakistan needed to win 15-0 to go to the next round on the basis of goal difference and team India achieved it.
