India, China holds high level talks on cultural, people-to-people ties

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is today engaged in extensive delegation level  talks with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

The talks are being held under the newly established framework to develop people-to-people exchanges between the two neighbors nation.

The two sides are likely to premeditated on a host of bilateral issues including ways to get deeper overall ties. Wang is in India to be present at the first meeting of the High Level Mechanism on People-to-People Exchanges.

The meeting is being co-chaired by Swaraj and Wang.The decision to set up the forum was taken at the Wuhan summit between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping in April.

During the opening statement Swaraj stated that the meeting is a step in the efforts to get better people to people contact and bring more warmth in relations.

EMA talking head Raveesh Kumar taking a twitter  wrote, “Putting people to people ties at the centre, 1st meeting of #IndiaChina High-Level Mechanism co-chaired by EAM @SushmaSwaraj & Chinese State Councilor & FM Wang Yi.  Discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism, art, films, media, culture, yoga, sports, academic & youth exchanges.”
