According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday, India recorded 42,618 fresh cases of the Covid-10, along with 330 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. The country witnessed a total of 36,385 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total cure rate at nearly 97.45 percent and total recoveries to 3,21,00,001.

According to the ministry data, the overall active cases of COVID-19 in India climbed to 4,05,681, The total death toll stood at 4,39,895. In India, the first death due to COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 52,82,40,038 samples have been tested up to September 3 for COVID-19. Of these 17,04,970 samples were tested on Friday.

Covid cases in Kerala are somewhat declining and transmission is continuing in the state. Kerala's daily Covid tally showed a slight fall on Friday, dropping below the 30,000 level after a few days, with 29,322 new cases from 1,63,691 samples tested in the past 24 hours, while the test positivity rate also dropped marginally to 17.91 percent.
