New Delhi: 72 thermal plants have only 3 days of coal left. If this happens, if coal is not made available to these plants soon, India, like China, may face a power crisis. Yes, it is not us but experts. In fact, experts have recently assessed the coal availability data released by the Union Ministry of Power and other agencies and gave this information.

These plants reportedly generate 66.35 per cent of the total consumption. In such a situation, if coal is not provided to them in time, the total consumption may be reduced by 33 per cent. There are also reports that a large consignment of coal coming to India is stuck in China. In fact, the Government says that before Corona, the country consumed 10,660 crore units of electricity daily in August-September 2019, which increased to 12,420 crore units in August-September 2021. At that time, thermal power plants were generating 61.91 per cent of the total consumption.

Due to this, the consumption of coal in these plants has also increased by 18% in nearly two years. You all must be aware that India has the fourth-largest coal reserves in the world. Coal alone constitutes about 70 per cent of the country's total power demand. Let me tell you that Coal India is the largest coal mining company in the world. India is the second-largest importer of coal in the world. However, the demand for electricity in the country is growing rapidly after the corona restrictions came down. On July 7, it reached its top 200.57 GW level and the demand still remains above 190 GW. This has deepened the power crisis.
