New Delhi: India is going to get another major weapon today in the fight against the corona epidemic. The first consignment of Russian Corona Vaccine Sputnik-V is arriving in India today. Earlier, the battle against corona with covicshield and covaxin is continuing in India. With the first consignment of Sputnik-V, the pace of vaccination in the country will pick up further as another vaccine will be added to the world's largest vaccination campaign.

The Russian official has confirmed that the first consignment of sputnik-v vaccine will arrive in India today i.e. State that the Sputnik-V vaccine has been developed jointly by the Gamalya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Reuters quoted a Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) official as saying that India will get the first consignment of the Russian corona vaccine 'Sputnik V' on May 1. RDIF chief Kiril Dmitry told Reuters last week that the first consignment of Sputnik-V would be delivered on May 1.

He further said that he hopes that Russia's vaccine supply will help India get out of the second wave of the Corono virus epidemic. Initially, the capacity of the vaccine was questioned, but later, when the trial data was published in The Lancet in February this year, it described the vaccine as safe and effective. In fact, the third phase of the Covid-19 Russian vaccine Sputnik-V has proved to be 91.6 percent effective and has not seen any side effects.
